Boat Trip to the Ninepins,
Hong Kong National Geopark
(Saturday, 12th December 2009)
The Ninepin Group of islands is an important geosite in the recently designated
Hong Kong Geopark, the 183rd National Geopark of China. This excursion will
tour the spectacular scenery of the islands, with detailed explanations of the
geological processes that lead to the formation of these remarkable hexagonal
rock columns by Raynor Shaw and Rod Sewell.
ASSEMBLY: 9:00 am from Pier 9 Central on 12th December 2009
RETURN: 5:00 pm to Pier 9 Central (by the Star Ferry)
Members must bring their own lunch and drinks. Limited drinks will be available for purchase on board.
Restricted to 30 members. A charge of HK$80 will be made to cover the boat hire. Landing on the
Ninepins will be entirely dependent upon the prevailing weather conditions. If landing is too difficult, this
will be substituted by a visit to the Ming dynasty Tung Lung Fort
