The Hong Kong West Drainage Tunnel comprises over 10.5km of drainage tunnel of 6.25m and 7.25m
internal diameter to be constructed by hard rock TBM, and nearly 8km of adit tunnels to be excavated
by drill and blast method. The main tunnel is lined with a precast concrete lining, and the adits with a
cast in-situ concrete lining.
Tunnels are being constructed from portals at Tai Hang and Cyberport. The visit will enter the tunnel to
view the TBM, as well as visiting the adit junction where break-out from the segmental lined tunnel is
underway, with excavation carried out by mechanical methods.
